Riekert is a Mechanical Engineer that started with Anglo Coal as a Graduate Junior Engineer. Riekert got his Mechanical Engineer’s Certificate of Competence (GCC) from the DME in 2004 in order to be appointed as a responsible person for production equipment at mining operations.

Riekert was appointed Plant Engineer at Goedehoop colliery and transferred to Greenside Colliery as Shaft Engineer, both operations of Anglo Coal. In this time Riekert gained significant experience in the management and maintenance of engineering equipment and machinery within the constraints of limited budget and resources.

After Anglo Coal, Riekert joined an international mining product manufacturer (Martin Engineering) as the General Manager of Projects. After the successes of growing the projects division by 3 digit percentages year on year, being responsible for sales, marketing, engineering design, fabrication management and project management, Riekert was offered the position of Head of Projects at Martin Engineering’s head office (Neponset USA).

At the same time the opportunity arose to start Enprotec as a business partner. Since then various projects within Enprotec has been managed by Riekert with the combined responsibility of growing the business into a well established profitable unit. Throughout Riekert also continued studies and obtained an Honours in Maintenance (B.Eng Hon (Maintenance)), and a Masters in Engineering Management (MEM) from the University of Pretoria.

Stephan Opperman

Stephan Opperman is a Professional Metallurgical Engineer, registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa. Stephan completed his Metallurgical training at Anglo’s Goedehoop Colliery and proceeded to fill the role of Plant Superintendent by 2006. During this time Stephan conceptualised and designed the flotation and filtration model, and redesigned the multi-cell flotation system into the more efficient Dual Cell used by Enprotec.

Stephan has represented Anglo American as part of the Young Metallurgical team on the World Business Council of Sustainable Development. Stephan has since had considerable experience in Business Improvement, metallurgical designs of coal processing plants, project management, and technical services management.

With Stephan’s motto of “innovation to improve and renew”, he is a dynamic and valued addition to the ENPROTEC team.

Jayson Jacobs

Jayson completed his Bachelors degree in Metallurgy and assumed an operational role at Anglo Coal for four years at various levels. Starting at graduate level (as an Anglo bursar), he worked his way up to Plant Superintendent (production). His passion for people and his innovative nature has elevated him to great levels which today earn him the respect throughout the industry. Whilst at Anglo Coal, Jayson was also involved in the feasibility study of Mafube Colliery which today is one the biggest thermal coal producers in the industry. He was also involved in numerous continuous improvement projects across various operations.

He joined Ingwenya Mineral Processing in 2007 as a Plant Manager of Somkhele Anthracite Mine, looking after the complete plant operation and maintenance contract. He was then transferred to Umlalazi (Navigation West) which forms part of Anglo Thermal Coal and also managed the contract. After operating Umlalazi very successfully, he was promoted to Area Manager and during his tenure, he looked after Kiepersol Colliery (Jindal), Umlalazi (Anglo Thermal Coal) and Nkomati Antharacite (Sentula).

He was also appointed Director of Malvern Engineering Works in 2010, which further expanded his business and technical knowledge base. Over the following two years Jayson has managed various projects such as the installation the first Phoenix Belt Press in South Africa (Kiepersol) and also the installation of the first ENPROTEC 3 – product cyclone in South Africa (Umlalazi).

In 2012 Jayson decided to join the very dynamic team at Enprotec to use his experience and skills to add value to the fast growing company. Jayson is also the Chairman of the South African Coal Processing Society.

Frans Luck

Frans recently joined Enprotec as its Chief Financial Officer. Frans is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) with many of years’ experience working for a variety of companies.

After obtaining his Honours (B.Com Hon (Accounting)) and Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) from the North West University in Potchefstroom, Frans completed his articles with KPMG and qualified as a CA (SA). While doing his articles he gained experience in working with a number of different clients and sectors including platinum, chrome, gold and coal mining. Frans also completed his Masters degree in SA and International Taxes (M.Com (Tax)) part-time during his articles.

Upon completion of his articles Frans was appointed as the SA Statutory and Tax Leader at General Electric, a Fortune 500 multinational company. His responsibilities included ensuring that the SA operations complied with local statutory, company and tax laws while also advising on mergers and acquisitions, valuations and commercial contract risks and managing the external audit process. After 9 months he was promoted to Regional Statutory Leader for the Sub-Saharan Africa region where he was responsible for statutory and company compliance for all GE operations across all countries in the Sub-Sahara Africa region.

Before joining ENPROTEC, Frans was based in Uganda as the Regional Finance Manager for a forestry company that was responsible for operations in Uganda and Rwanda. Here he was responsible for the entire financial and commercial function of the company and dealt with customers across the East Africa Region, gaining invaluable experience.

Frans heads the financial and administrative function at ENPROTEC and is also responsible for improving commercial efficiency within the company.

Kwena Nong

Kwena completed his Honours in Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Pretoria and has acquired extensive experience and knowledge in the metallurgical industry and he is currently in the process of completing his Master’s in Business Administration

Kwena was involved in cold and hot commissioning and production ramp-up of Skorpion-Zinc mine in Namibia as a Junior process engineer. Joined Multotec Group where he specialized with solids liquid separation responsible for projects’ conceptual studies to implementation stage and operational optimization. During his time at Multotec he was involve in Anglo-American water treatment project, Phola Coal project, Ngezi PGMs project, Kumba Iron ore projects and Uranium projects. Kwena joined Kumba Iron ore responsible for the project’s conceptual studies (Geo-Metallurgical study, technology treat-off study, pilot plant implementation and testing) to project execution (pre-feasibility to Implementation) and operational optimization. At Kumba he was involve in -1mm beneficiation projects and -212microns slimes beneficiation project as a Lead Process Engineer. He then joined Khumani Iron Ore where he was seconded to ARM technical office where he was responsible for ARM Ferrous Northern Cape projects from conceptual studies (Geo-Metallurgical study, technology treat-off study, pilot plant implementation and testing) to project execution (pre-feasibility to Implementation) and operational optimization. At ARM, Kwena was involved in Khumani Low-grade project, Khumani Addition capacity project, Khumani Ultra-Fine recovery, Beeshoek low-grade project, Beeshoek -1mm beneficiation project and Manganese sorting project as Project Engineer Processing.

Kwena joined ENPROTEC as Business Development Manager and is a focused and highly skilled Metallurgist with excellent management and production competencies.
